It's timeeeee (in my best Mariah Carey voice).

"Aaron Pierre, that's Mufasa" is something you might not be singing in the same way after you see what he looks like now.

The 30-year-old English actor debuted a new look while attending the 7th Annual American Black Film Festival Honors in Beverly Hills on Sunday.

Drum roll, please....

That's right, Aaron officially cut off his goatee (his mustache and beard combo). Now, do you understand why that Jennifer Hudson Show jingle doesn't hit the same without the facial hair?

He rocked a monochromatic grey ensemble as he received the Rising Star Award that night, which recognized the talent and excellence he's brought to both movies and TV.

But fans couldn't help but focus on his face:

But others thought the removal of his facial hair symbolized something way bigger. Many speculated that it marked the beginning of filming for the upcoming live-action DC Comics series Lanterns.

Aaron is set to star as John Stewart, which just so happens to be the real name of the popular superhero Green Lantern. The news was confirmed last October.

HBO ordered eight episodes for the series, and filming was scheduled to begin around Feb. 10 and wrap on July 1. The show is based on the iconic DCU comic Green Lantern.

His recent Instagram Story posts showing him bulk up in the gym also played a big role in the theory.

With the production time aligning and knowing that Green Lantern is clean-shaven historically, the speculation checks out.

And fans are really excited about it:

Even better, Aaron is just as excited to bring his own version of this character to life. During an interview with the Buzz at the ABFF Honors, he gushed all about it:

"I'm locked in and focused on a very beautiful project that's very dear to my heart — it's Lanterns," Aaron told the Buzz. "I'll be puttering the beautiful character of John Stewart, who I love very dearly."

"I'm going to do all in my power to bring him to life in a way that resonates with the people and celebrates that character."

I can't wait! What do you think about Aaron's new look and him gearing up to play Green Lantern? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
