After Seeing Nicola Coughlan Post This Picture Of Her Mom, I'm Convinced All Boomers Hilariously Do The Same Thing

Nicola Coughlan might've shared the glue that holds all boomers together, and it's truly a sight to see.

Earlier today, Nicola earned her very first BAFTA TV Awards nomination for her work on the Channel 4/Tubi original dark British comedy Big Mood. She was nominated for "Best Female Performance in a Comedy."

The series follows best friends Maggie (Nicola) and Eddie (Lydia West) as they navigate the growing pains of adulthood in East London. Maggie decides to stop taking her bipolar disorder medication so that she can concentrate on the play she's supposed to write and submit to her agent. Meanwhile, non-judgemental Eddie is willing to support her no matter what as she deals with the failing dive bar she inherited from her late father. Their friendship is tested when work, life, and mental health complications become overwhelming for them both.

I binged the series as soon as it hit Tubi! The show was renewed for a second season in February.

The Bridgerton star shared the big news on Instagram with a series of slides and a sentimental caption to match. As of now, the post has generated more than 73K likes and 1.3K comments.

"Holy moly I’ve been nominated for a BAFTA," Nicola wrote. "I’ve tried to write a long caption but I’m too overwhelmed and excited and emotional to explain how much it means to me so please enjoy."

But it was the second photo in the carousel that I couldn't get over: "Pic 2: Ringing my mum and getting to tell her forehead the news."

It cracked me up because I can't tell you how many FaceTime conversations I've had with my mother where I'll be talking to her chin, her neck, her forehead — basically everything but her actual face. She's gotten much better with it, but, baby, it's been a journey.

I'm hoping Nicola's mother figured it out eventually, as they were on the call, but even if she didn't, it didn't stop the Irish actor from crying tears of joy as she celebrated the career feat.
