After being selected by the Washington Wizards with the first overall pick, AJ Dybantsa knows that he is performing under pressure. That comes with the territory as a top pick, and it seems he has lofty goals that meet those expectations.
Dybantsa is a talented youngster, and he knows that. He is ready for the limelight, so he has sought out some of the biggest stars of the previous eras. He has heeded some advice from them, as he continues to learn from them.
AJ Dybantsa is shooting to be a top 100 in NBA history
Back in the 2020-21 NBA season, the league had its 75th Anniversary. It was a celebration of how far the league has come over the past 75 years. Part of that celebration was also having a list of players who can be considered the league's very best across its illustrious history.
They had a 76-player list to commemorate the occasion. It was a special group of players who all had contributions to the sport's biggest league, which is why they were fondly remembered in 2021.

One of those players was Dwyane Wade, who had a successful career that spanned 16 years. D-Wade was one of the people whom Dybantsa has spoken to, and the rookie has set a lofty goal for himself after talking to the former Finals MVP.
"I spoke to Dwyane Wade right before the draft, and I told him I want to be a Hall of Famer, and he said that's what he wanted to be too until he got selected for the Top 75, and that was like a bigger moment for him than the Hall of Fame," Dybantsa recalled from his conversation with Wade.
"He said 20 years from now will be the 100th anniversary, and I should be aiming for the Top 100 instead of just the Hall of Fame, so that's my new goal."
It is an admirable goal because it truly puts him as one of the greatest players of all time. The Wizards should be glad that they have a star like this because not only is he hungry for individual success, but he also needs to have team success attached to it.
