The Chicago White Sox have three players on their team at the 2026 MLB All-Star Game, with Miguel Vargas, Tristan Peters, and Munetaka Murakami all in Philadelphia.
Murakami got the chance to shine first, participating in the Home Run Derby. While he didn't advance to the semi-finals, it was still a great accomplishment to make it there.
But, at the All-Star Game, that wasn't all the fun news for White Sox fans. James Fegen of Sox Machine is reporting that Murakami revealed his wish to stay playing with the White Sox in Chicago beyond his current two-year contract.
Munetaka Murakami wants to stay with White Sox 'long term'
"All-Star first baseman Munetaka Murakami said he's not thinking or talking specifics about contract extensions right now, but affirmed that he would like to stay with the White Sox long-term," Fegen reports.
This is a noteworthy update, as the beloved White Sox slugger want's to stay in Chicago for the long haul if possible. For the White Sox, this is some incredible news.
While the two sides need to work out a contract, Murakami being interested in staying with the White Sox is exactly what they were hoping for.
They took a chance on him, he proved the rest of MLB wrong, and now the White Sox can benefit by signing him to a long-term contract.

Murakami has been awesome for the White Sox, and hopefully, he ends up signing long-term. He's open to such a possibility, and according to Fegens report, Murakami would "like" to stick in Chicago for the long haul.
