Kelsey Mitchell’s huge performance in the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game earned a strong reaction from Atlanta Dream star Angel Reese. Kelsey Mitchell did not leave the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game with the MVP trophy, but the Indiana Fever guard certainly made a lasting impression.

Mitchell delivered one of the best performances of the night while playing alongside Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese on Team Coop. The first-time All-Star starter poured in a game-high 28 points, shooting 11-of-19 from the field while adding four rebounds, two assists and five steals.

Team Coop ultimately came up short in a 129-122 loss to Team Spoon, preventing Mitchell from becoming the obvious favorite for the MVP award. Still, her scoring display was another reminder that few players in the WNBA can heat up as quickly as the Fever veteran.

Reese apparently agreed.

Mitchell reflected on her All-Star experience Monday with a social media post featuring several photos from the weekend.

“Walked in the rain… withstood the pain… reapin’ the benefits of my hustle, tell ‘em I don’t want fame…” Mitchell wrote.

Reese jumped into the comment section with a short but fitting assessment of her All-Star teammate.

“That girl,” Reese wrote, before describing Mitchell as a “bucket getter.”

It was a simple message, but it carried plenty of weight coming from another one of the league’s biggest stars. Reese had a front-row seat to Mitchell’s offensive outburst and saw just how difficult the Fever guard can be to contain.

Mitchell scored from all over the floor during the All-Star showcase. She attacked off the dribble, found openings without the ball and repeatedly punished the defense when given even a small amount of space.

The performance was hardly surprising for anyone who has followed Mitchell throughout the regular season.

Mitchell entered the All-Star break ranked second in the WNBA in scoring at 23.3 points per game. Her production helped make her a starter for the first time in her career, adding another milestone to a journey that began when Indiana selected her with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft.

Although Mitchell had previously earned All-Star recognition, receiving a starting assignment represented a new level of respect from fans, players and media members. She responded by nearly carrying Team Coop to a victory.

Mitchell’s 28 points were more than any other player scored in the game. Her five steals also showed that she was doing much more than looking for her own shot during an exhibition typically dominated by offense. Had Team Coop completed the comeback, Mitchell may have gone home with MVP honors. Instead, she left Chicago with another reminder of how highly her peers regard her game.

Reese’s “bucket getter” label captured Mitchell’s reputation perfectly. The Fever guard has built her career around scoring, but her latest All-Star performance demonstrated that she can shine even when surrounded by the league’s biggest names.
