The Los Angeles Angels are very likely to be trade deadline sellers this season, and it should come as little surprise that Mike Trout's name is popping back up in trade rumors.
With new general manager John Mozeliak stepping in for the Angels, a Trout trade could, in theory, be a bit more possible since a regime change could spell roster change.
However, when Jim Bowden of The Athletic asked Mozeliak about the chance of trading Trout, specifically to the Philadelphia Phillies, the Angels' new GM shared a hilarious and straightforward one-word response: "No!"
Angels GM emphatically shuts down Phillies Mike Trout trade rumors
"I asked John Mozeliak #Angels GM if he was going to trade Mike Trout to the Phillies at the trade deadline and he answered emphatically, 'No!'" Bowden shared on Twitter/x.
This response from Mozeliak shouldn't be a surprise, as the chances of Trout getting traded are incredibly small for a multitude of reasons. His massive contract, Trout's no-trade clause he's not likely to waive, and the trade itself make a deal unlikely.
But, if there was any doubt, this simple response from Mozeliak seems to shut that down. Trout is going nowhere, which is especially important to the Phillies, seemingly his most likely destination.
Trout will be headed to Philadelphia this summer, just as an All-Star representing the Angels as a starting outfielder for the AL team this season.

He's been great and should be back off the injured list soon to help the Angels, and also get a chance to play in Philadelphia, close to where he grew up in New Jersey.
But, after the Midsummer Classic in the middle of July, Trout will return to Los Angeles, and likely won't be suiting up for any team other than the Angels for the rest of 2026, and likely until he retires from MLB.
This simple response from Mozeliak is hilariously straightforward, especially since he was asked specifically about Trout to the Phillies.
As much as the Phillies' fanbase would love to see this happen, Trout is not going anywhere based on this comment, and all of the reporting recently indicating Trout's not a trade target, even as the Angels are likely selling this summer.
