As the Golden State Warriors continue to look for ways to improve on both sides of the basketball this offseason, there's reason to believe that Anthony Davis could be a legitimate option for them.
Davis, one of the better players in the NBA, is still very good in his own right. However, I don't think it's unfair to say he isn't what he should be because of some of his injuries.
The reality is that some teams might not be willing to trade for him because of the contract that comes with him.
That's something the Warriors will have to be mindful of, with one writer recently suggesting the contract could be what keeps him from being moved this offseason.
“Anthony Davis cuts a highly anomalous figure in the nation's capital, and the legacy big man clearly does not want to play in Washington. He has dropped several less-than-enthusiastic media comments since being unceremoniously routed to the Wizards from Dallas last season.
“The front office is highly motivated to continue its youth movement and stack incoming draft assets, meaning a legacy star doesn't align with its timeline. However, his massive remaining contract will be the ultimate sticking point for teams attempting to match salaries under the strict new apron rules,” Joe Cervenka wrote.
From the Warriors' perspective, I don't think it's crazy at all to say that they'd be interested in trading for Davis even with that contract. Again, that doesn't mean they want to take it on, but the Warriors unfortunately aren't in a position to be too picky about the guys they bring in.
If Davis is available and there for the taking, they have to go out and land him.
