Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball are the latest Minnesota Timberwolves duo. For the longest time, Timberwolves fans have wanted a good point guard to pair up with Edwards, and now, they finally have the backcourt of their dreams.

With this new backcourt, the Timberwolves could be one of the most dangerous teams in the Western Conference. They will be playing against the other top teams, but it seems they are preparing for a massive 2026-27 campaign.

Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball are already getting close

During the 2025-26 season, Ball was one of the focal points of the Charlotte Hornets. They almost reached the NBA Playoffs, but the second half of the regular season was one of the biggest success stories.

Unfortunately, their first half of the season was terrible, so they could not get past the Play-In Tournament. With that, the Hornets probably felt that it was the right time to hit the reset button.

The Timberwolves took advantage of that because they know Ball's skill set complements Edwards and the Timberwolves. Thankfully for Minnesota fans, Ball is already getting acclimated to his new team.

"He's actually been at the house the last two days. wish he’d come back to Minnesota so we can kick it a little more because I think a lot of people misjudge the NBA; it's just like AAU: the closer you and your team are, the more chance ya’ll got to win a championship," Edwards said at Fanatics Fest about Ball joining him.

As the Timberwolves continue to improve on their chemistry, the team will be a much bigger threat. Most people see the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs as the biggest threats, but this Timberwolves team can surprise a lot of people.
