The Athletics finished the first half of the season on a nine-game losing streak.
That's led them to make a coaching staff change before the All-Star break. However, manager Mark Kotsay's job is safe.
According to MLB.com's Martin Gallegos, the A's have dismissed pitching coach Scott Emerson.
Emerson was hired as the AL West club's pitching coach in 2017. Before that, he was the A's bullpen coach for three seasons.
The club's 5.21 ERA this season is the worst in the American League. The Colorado Rockies are the only team in the Majors with a worse collective ERA (5.44) than the A's.
Sutter Health Park in Sacramento, the A's temporary home ballpark before their move to Las Vegas, is a hitter-friendly stadium.

It's fair to wonder if the transition from the larger Oakland Coliseum to the minor league ballpark indirectly played a role in Emerson's firing.
"While the A’s begin a process of finding their next pitching coach, current A’s bullpen coach Dan Hubbs will serve that role on an interim basis for the remainder of the season," Gallegos wrote Monday.
In 2023, Hubbs joined the A's as a minor league pitching performance coach.
