Lenovo Legion Go S Running Bazzite. A menu displays the option to "Reboot into Windows."
Universal BlueBazzite, a Linux-based alternative OS powered by Fedora and Universal Blue, just added another device to its growing list of supported handhelds: the Lenovo Legion Go S. Nope, not the upcoming version powered by SteamOS that’s shipping in May, but rather the Windows 11 version that’s already landing in people’s hands.
The team announced the news on Reddit, alongside a photo of the Legion Go S running Bazzite, displaying the handheld daemon menu and an option to “Reboot into Windows.”
The support for Lenovo’s Legion Go S just landed in the latest stable version (41.20250121) of Bazzite.
Wait, Do We Even Need Bazzite Now?
I can hear some of you asking fair questions like “why not just wait for the SteamOS version of the Legion Go S?” or “why do we even need Bazzite for other handhelds when a SteamOS 3 beta is coming?”
Bazzite creator Kyle Gospodnetich recently wrote this about what distinguishes it from SteamOS, and it’s worth reiterating here:
“Bazzite [...] is designed to make up for some of the shortcomings of Steam OS, such as immutability preventing package installs when needed, lack of printing, lack of secure boot, lack of drive encryption, and so on. We also ship a number of helpers and extra packages to make non-Steam gaming easier and faster to get up and running, and are in a position to more quickly work with the community on improvements — all of which will continue to differentiate us.”
Bazzite is often referred to as a SteamOS clone, but that doesn’t do it justice. I like to call it the sane replacement for Windows 11, and the power user’s alternative to SteamOS.
In addition to what’s listed above, Bazzite has some neat tricks up its sleeve when it comes to dual-booting with Windows. Tools were recently added to let you reboot into Windows directly from Bazzite without the clunky process of entering a BIOS boot menu first. You can even add Windows as a non-Steam game to your Steam library, making it as easy as launching a game.

I appreciate elegant solutions like that. And besides, we don’t know for sure if SteamOS will even offer this functionality when it’s made available on devices beyond the Steam Deck.
