It felt like the Chicago Bears were going to address their edge-rushing issue throughout the offseason. It's still relatively early, and we just saw two blockbuster trades just two days ago to fix some teams' problems, but if this goes on any longer, I can definitely see why some fans are going to panic about the Bears not doing what's needed.
There aren't a ton of elite defensive end-type players out there at the moment, but there is one guy who can really get to the quarterback who seems to be available. That player is none other than Josh Sweat, though the recent reports about him potentially playing for a different team are far from good news for the Bears.
“Yes, the Cowboys did call on Sweat yesterday, but were turned away. TB sent an offer of a 4th, but were denied. Sweat wants Green Bay, and if that fizzles out, the Eagles are his #2,” Easton Butler wrote, H/T Heavy.
If the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers are in the mix, it wouldn't be too surprising to see either one of them land said player.
The Cowboys know they have to be relatively aggressive because of some of the poor moves they've made in the past, and the Packers are in the midst of a Super Bowl window, so adding a player of Sweat's caliber would make a lot of sense.
Him going to the Packers would also have a direct impact on the Bears, another factor that has to be considered here for the front office before they let him go somewhere else.
