Blue Jays set to make unfortunate MLB history that will blow your mind

It's unfortunate that the Toronto Blue Jays have continued to deal with these injuries, and it's definitely affecting their play to start the season.

Through about 60 games, the Blue Jays are 29-32, lost three in a row, and now are eight games behind the first-place Tampa Bay Rays, who were recently swept by the Detroit Tigers.

When we start to really dive into the numbers, too, I have a feeling that things are only going to get worse.

Not that the Blue Jays can't turn this thing around once they get healthy, but there are some very concerning stats that suggest the Blue Jays aren't going to because of how much stress they're putting on their bullpen. MLB.com recently put out a post about the Blue Jays' biggest problems, and it's almost scary to look at.

“Mason Fluharty leads the league with 31 appearances. Braydon Fisher is tied with the Athletics’ Hogan Harris for second place with 30 appearances. Jeff Hoffman, Louis Varland and Tyler Rogers are among those tied for sixth place with 28 appearances.

“As the calendar flips to June, all five relievers are on pace to reach 75 games played by the end of the regular season. If that rate holds, the 2026 Blue Jays would become the first team in MLB history with five pitchers recording 75 or more outings,” Linus Lawrence of MLB.com wrote on Tuesday.

Certainly, this just isn't sustainable for the Blue Jays to be the team that they're looking to be throughout the year.

Whether that means going out to add a few bullpen arms at the trade deadline, eventually getting healthier in the starting rotation and allowing guys to throw later in games if they throw well enough to do so, or anything else, something has to change here.
