Braves announce incredible Drake Baldwin news amid All-Star voting results

The Atlanta Braves are sitting comfortably atop the NL East, with an eight-game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies, even while not at full strength.

They lost Spencer Strider recently to an injured list stint, and he's going to miss at least four weeks due to that elbow issue. But, while the Braves are losing one key player, they're getting back another.

Ahead of their series against the San Francisco Giants, the Braves announced that Drake Baldwin, their superstar young catcher, is being activated off the injured list.

Braves announce return of Drake Baldwin

"The Braves today returned C Drake Baldwin from his rehabilitation assignment and reinstated him from the injured list, and outrighted C Austin Wynnes to Triple-A Gwinnett," the Braves announced.

This is an incredible announcement for the Braves, as they're finally getting back Baldwin into the lineup with this IL activation.

Baldwin has been out since May 18 and was a huge component of the Braves' offense, missing a lot of time this season.

The 46-25 Braves are getting even better with Baldwin's return from the IL. This good news on Baldwin came on the same day it was revealed he led all NL catchers for most All-Star votes this season, as USA Today's Bob Nightengale shared on Twitter/x.

He has a .303 batting average, 13 homers, 38 RBIs, and a .932 OPS this season. While he might've missed a lot of time this season, he's still the favorite for the starting NL catcher job this year, and his return for the Giants series is a huge win for the Braves.

Between the All-Star reveal of Baldwin being in first place for most votes for an NL catcher and this announcement of his return, things are going very well for Baldwin already this week.
