Braves could finally resolve Jurickson Profar problem at MLB trade deadline

The Atlanta Braves are likely to be trade deadline buyers in a few weeks when the August 3 deadline comes around. They have some needs to address and some resources to land a few good players.

There's been a focus on two positions, with starting pitcher and shortstop both receiving plenty of rumors, including stars like Tarik Skubal, Sonny Gray, and Jeremy Pena. But, there's another spot worth upgrading: left field.

ESPN's Eric Karabell highlighted the left-field position as one the Braves could look to upgrade, as Atlanta has yet to properly resolve the Jurickson Profar problem after his full-season suspension.

Braves can finally fix Jurickson Profar problem at MLB trade deadline

"The Braves, featuring several weak lineup spots, figure to be aggressive at the trade deadline," Karabell writes. "One area to improve is left field, where another Jurickson Profar suspension - this one for the entire year - caught them off guard."

With the Braves getting caught off guard about Profar's suspension, which is for the entire 2026 season and all of the postseason, left field has become a clear need.

Mike Yastrzemski was holding the fort down, but he's currently injured with an elbow issue and will be out for the next few weeks.

Even if he's healthy, Yastrzemski had a .230 batting average with a .686 OPS. That's not exactly good enough to stop the Braves from adding help at the deadline.

If the Braves could add someone like Taylor Ward, Jo Adell, or even a superstar like Byron Buxton in the outfield at the deadline, it would be an incredibly worthwhile move.

Regardless of who their target is at the deadline, the Braves should be eyeing up outfield help at this year's deadline. It's a top need for the team after the Profar problem, and it might finally be addressed this summer.
