There's no reason the Denver Broncos shouldn't be proud of what they did last season. This crew almost made it to the big game, and maybe they would have if quarterback Bo Nix had stayed healthy.

Now, this franchise knows just how good they are this moment. They want to use that momentum to go into the next season, and there's no reason the excitement shouldn't carry over. Seeing what the San Francisco 49ers looked like in the final game last season, there's reason to think the Broncos are better than the them.

One of the biggest things the team did in the offseason was trade for wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. This adds a new, reliable target for Nix. It also makes this team even more exciting than they were last season.

Broncos keep getting kudos on Jaylen Waddle trade

In a USA Today feature released on Monday, reporter Nick Brinkerhoff names the Broncos the No. 8 team on his "vibe check" roster of teams. That's a great spot and means they have a good vibe. Who doesn't want that?

He points to the Waddle trade as being huge. "Expectations are a mile high for the Broncos, which is exactly where they should be," he says in the piece. Get it? Mile high?

"On the doorstep of a Super Bowl appearance last season, Denver saw its ride come to an end after Bo Nix's unfortunate injury in the divisional round," he adds. "An offseason trade for Jaylen Waddle should provide a spark for an offense that needed it and the defense promises to be dominant again."

The idea of Denver getting to the championship isn't just a hope anymore. It's almost a reality.
