Browns' Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders QB competition gets a label nobody wants

It's all fun and games for the quarterback competition between Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders of the Cleveland Browns until reality kicks in.

Sure, it's fun to have some drama in the NFL. A quarterback competition is about as dramatic as it gets. But, this one is being dubbed "weird" by an NFL analyst, and it's easy to see why.

John Breech of CBS Sports has a feature that dropped on Monday discussing the biggest storylines of the season. Of course, the Browns are in here, including the quarterback situation.

The team's quarterback room is divided between Watson, Sanders, Dillon Gabriel and Taylen Green. That's a lot of signal-callers but no clear starter or future franchise pick.

"The Browns have owned the weirdest quarterback room in the NFL for years now," he says in the piece. Even weirder than when Russell Wilson joined the New York Giants for a minute? Regardless, he also dubs the Browns' quarterback room the worst in the NFL. That's harsh and is obviously just his opinion, so don't get too upset, Browns fans.

He adds that "Watson is still on the roster thanks to that five-year, $230 million fully guaranteed deal he signed in 2022." Unfortunately, Breech points out that Watson "owns the worst completion percentage, yards per attempt and TD-INT ratio in the NFL in the five years since one of the worst trades of all time."

Plus, of course, Watson has been off the field since October 2024 due to tearing the same Achilles twice. So, these are the reasons the team's quarterback room is being dubbed "weird." Hopefully one of these guys will start to rise to the top and show that they can be part of the Browns' future. They're both talented and deserve some positive news.
