The latest update has been much more encouraging. According to Spanish outlet La Verdad, Alcaraz’s wrist has completely healed after he was examined by doctor Angel Ruiz-Cotorro. He has started gradually increasing his training workload in preparation for a return.

Alcaraz is included in the field for the Cincinnati Open, scheduled for Aug. 13-23. He is the tournament’s defending champion after winning the 2025 final against Jannik Sinner.

The event would serve as Alcaraz’s final major test before the US Open, where he is also the defending champion. Alcaraz defeated Sinner in the 2025 US Open final and will attempt to win his eighth Grand Slam title when he returns to New York.
