LeBron James' next team has been one of the biggest stories of the offseason so far. At 41, he remains one of the most sought-after players in the league. It is proof that his longevity is the best the NBA has ever seen.
Plenty of teams are interested in getting him, but it seems like a third Cleveland Cavaliers stint is waiting. This has led to people within the Cavs organization getting excited for another LeBron homecoming.
Austin Carr knows LeBron James can be impactful for the Cavs again
The Cavaliers had a shaky 2025-26 season, which was doubly disappointing because they were hailed as preseason favorites alongside the New York Knicks.
Considering the Knicks won the championship, it was yet another disappointing run for the Cavs, who were left in the dust. After trading for James Harden in the middle of the season, expectations got bigger, but they were embarrassed in the Eastern Conference Finals by the Knicks.

Now that there is a potential return brewing for the Cavs with LeBron, the hype is second to none. It is not assured just yet, but franchise icons like Austin Carr have already analyzed what Bron can do in his third stint with the team.
"His presence will bring a lot of opportunities for us. Even though he's 41 or 42, you still have to respect him on the floor. That opens space, and that is what we need," Carr said on SiriusXM NBA Radio about a potential Cavs-LeBron reunion.
Cavs fans must know that this is not the same LeBron who stood out from 2003 to 2010, nor the 2014 to 2018 version. He is an older LeBron, so expectations should be tempered. The pressure will still be on Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and the rest of the team.
Of course, as long as James has not signed with the team, the Cavaliers and their fans should not get ahead of themselves. However, it is looking more and more likely that LeBron is coming home after eight years away.
