Tier List
Tier ListIt is no surprise that as Marvel Rivals season 1 ends its first week, that early impressions are already rolling in not just of the new characters, but of the changes made to old characters as nearly the entire roster was nerfed or buffed in some fashion.
As such, tier lists are beginning to roll out for Marvel Rivals season 1, and as you might expect, there is a lot of controversy about each of them, given that everyone has their own opinions and these are bound to be subjective to some extent.
I am going to do what I did for season zero and try to list a bunch of higher profile lists that have racked up a lot of views and debate to see if we can’t come to some sort of overall conclusions. These are generally from higher profile or higher ranked players, and keep in mind that what works at the highest levels of the game may be different than what works in random quickplay matches, where you’re far more likely to be able to play a wider range of characters. So, we have:

Tier ListSo, what are the common threads here? The S-tier lists almost all have Hulk in them, buffed into a better Vanguard/tank. Magneto is up there as well, consistently. Luna Snow appears to be the best healer/Stragetist at present. New Strategist Invisible Woman is near the top. The super-buffed version of Storm is now up there when previously having the lowest pick rate in the game, given how much she’s been improved. Hela, despite recent nerfs, remains at or near the top pretty consistently.
As for bottom tier? Without question, Black Widow, despite some buffs, is bringing up the rear and needs a lot more work. Scarlet Witch is also near the bottom, though mainly for higher level play where her tick damage is not good enough and her ult is one of the most attention-attracting, easily-stoppable ones in the game. Two lists actually put Mr. Fantastic in bottom tier, which has upset some. But with a not-great ult and a core move where you simply don’t shoot him for a few seconds, he can be underwhelming at times.
Other characters? Wolverine is all over the place, top, mid and bottom tiers, a controversial option. Punisher also has a lot of variance and is all over the map after his newest buffs.
The point is that these are not fixed in terms of being “right or wrong” but you can obviously see some patterns about who is strong and who badly needs help. Which of these are you liking?
