Daveigh Chase, The Original Voice Of Lilo From "Lilo & Stitch," Has Died At 35

TMZ has reported that Daveigh Chase, the actor who voiced Lilo in the original Lilo & Stitch film from 2002, has died.

The star's boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, told the outlet that Daveigh died after contracting meningitis and "several serious blood infections." In addition she developed sepsis, which shut down her system.

Daveigh had been hospitalized earlier in June due to malnutrition, according to TMZ.

A GoFundMe was set up for Daveigh's care as she was navigating her health issues. On the fundraising page, Roy shared more details about Daveigh's later years.

"After a difficult childhood and a painful falling out with her family, Daveigh was bullied and struggled to find safety and happiness in downtown LA," Roy wrote. "When we met, I promised to protect her and give her the love and comfort she deserved. Together, we found moments of happiness and hope."

Daveigh had been largely out of the spotlight for years. But her work is featured in some of the most beloved franchises in pop culture.

Perhaps most memorably, Daveigh voiced the character of Lilo in the 2002 Disney film, Lilo & Stitch. She went on to voice the character in the animated TV series as well.

On the opposite side of the cinematic spectrum, she also starred as young Samara Morgan in the iconic horror film The Ring that same year.

Daveigh's film credits also include the animated 2001 film Spirited Away and Donnie Darko. And in 2006, she appeared on HBO's Big Love. During the show's five-season run, she played the role of Rhonda Volmer.
