Do Giants need to trade NL Pitcher of Month Logan Webb?

1 hour ago 4

Logan Webb maintains an old-school pitching style. The ace of the San Francisco Giants' starting rotation relies more on precision than velocity.

Scheduled to start Friday against the host Colorado Rockies on Friday night, Webb continues to be an intriguing MLB trade deadline candidate.

Opening a three-game series at Coors Field, the fourth-place Giants (36-50) trail the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers by 20 games. They were 10 games back in the NL Wild Card chase.

Past the halfway point of the regular season, the Giants are one of only four teams that entered the weekend at least 10 games out of playoff contention before July 4. The Kansas City Royals, New York Mets and Rockies were the other franchises.

With 11 AL clubs and nine NL clubs within single digits of a postseason spot, the competition to grab a pitcher with Webb's double-play potential promises to increase over the next

The 29-year-old right-hander possesses four primary pitches: four-seam fastball, change-up, sweeper and cutter. A ground-ball pitcher when he's most effective, Webb entered 2026 with a 57-percent ground-ball rate, compared to his 15.6 fly-ball rate.

The Giants would be wise to wait and sell high. In Webb's previous five starts, Webb registered a 1.02 ERA with 28 strikeouts in 35.1 innings pitched.

Giants SP Logan Webb could be on move

Capping his June efforts, Webb was named NL Pitcher of the Month Friday.

With the organization for his entire eight-year major league career, Webb has not pitched in the playoffs since 2021 and with a run differential of minus-55, the Giants could be destined for a rebuild.

Dangling Webb to the host of squads with postseason aspirations, the Giants could kickstart a new era.

An underrated pitcher, Webb remains an attractive trade candidate, especially for organizations looking beyond this fall. Following 2026, he will have two years remaining on his five-year, $90 million deal

Will Webb get another postseason opportunity this fall?

With 26 contenders, an old-school, ground-ball pitcher certainly will be coveted.
