The Los Angeles Dodgers signed Shohei Ohtani a few years ago, and since then, they've won back-to-back World Series titles, and they've seen Ohtani win back-to-back MVP awards. This season might not be any different.
However, Ohtani isn't simply just playing well; he might be putting together one of the best seasons in Major League Baseball history. Entering June 4, Ohtani has some truly incredible numbers both as a pitcher and a hitter.
In fact, as @Jayhaykid highlighted on Twitter/x, Ohtani is playing just as well as Paul Skenes and Aaron Judge combined. But, he might be even better than those two combined.
Shohei Ohtani has been more valuable than Paul Skenes and Aaron Judge combined
"Shohei Ohtani has been as valuable this season by fWAR (4.4) as Aaron Judge and Paul Skenes combined (2.2 each)," @Jayhaykid shared.
That alone is incredibly impressive, but when using bWAR, it gets a lot more ridiculous. Ohtani has 5.2 bWAR this season, thanks to elite pitching (2.9 bWAR) and hitting (2.3).
This season, Judge has 2.2 bWAR while Skenes has 1.4 bWAR. Combined, Judge and Skenes, the 2025 AL MVP and NL Cy Young winner, have combined for 3.6 bWAR in 2026, which is 1.6 fewer bWAR than Ohtani has had this season.
A 1.6 bWAR would make for a fairly good player at this point in the regular season, and that's how much more valuable Ohtani has been this season than Judge and Skenes combined.

Based on bWAR, only Cristopher Sanchez of the Philadelphia Phillies is even within the stratosphere of Ohtani this season, thanks to his 4.7 bWAR mark. No other player has at least 4.0 bWAR this season.
As a pitcher, Ohtani has a 0.74 ERA in 10 starts with a 6-2 record and 2.9 bWAR with 67 strikeouts in 61 innings with a 546 ERA+.
As a hitter, Ohtani has a .301 batting average with an NL-leading .420 on-base percentage, a .941 OPS, 10 homers, 66 hits, 41 runs scored, 14 doubles, two triples, 33 RBIs, and 2.3 bWAR in 270 plate appearances.
What Ohtani is doing this season is something truly incredible, and if he can keep up this ridiculous pace, he's going to put together one of the all-time best seasons in Major League Baseball history.
