Yang Hansen was one of the most intriguing players chosen during the 2025 NBA Draft. Some even called him a "Chinese Jokic."
And then he spent most of his rookie season with the Portland Trail Blazers out of sight and out of mind.
He couldn't get run at the NBA level, and so a whole season went by where it never really became clear whether Hansen would have a chance to make it or not.
If anything, it sort of just pushed the question off into the future. That brings us to this summer, when Hansen is back at NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.
The big fella is doing his best to remind everyone what he's capable of.

On Monday night, Hansen scored 18 points with 10 rebounds and also dished out 5 assists. He only missed one shot from the floor.
— NBA (@NBA) July 14, 2026Hansen doesn't have an immediate, large role with Portland this season, either, but everything he can do at Summer League to make his case is a good thing for his career.
He's never going to be a huge leaper, but he's got lots of skill and knows how to put himself in good positions.
Hansen was always going to have to get up to the speed of the NBA game, but dominance in this summer setting would be a good sign that he's getting closer to the player Portland hopes he can become.
