Ferran Torres goal video: Watch Spain star break scoreless tie in World Cup final extra time

For so much of Sunday's World Cup final, it simply felt like a matter of time until Spain found a way to score.

Argentina conceded the match's first 19 shots but clung to a scoreless tie all the way into the second half of extra time, when Spain's 20th shot was the one that finally made the scoreboard reflect what every other metric said about the game.

Ferran Torres scored less than a minute into the second half of extra time, getting one past Emiliano Martinez and putting Spain in position to win its second World Cup.

Torres took the header pass from Pedro Porro and sent it past Martinez with some power, giving Spain a 1-0 lead after 105 minutes loaded with opportunities but no goals.

Spain could exhale, but only momentarily, after Torres' shot went in, as the game wasn't over. Still, the goal sent everyone in a red jersey into a frenzy, just as Andres Iniesta gave Spain the breakthrough goal it needed in extra time against the Netherlands in 2010.

Torres nearly scored again just a few minutes later, but an offside call quickly took the goal off the board.
