Football prediction has split into four capital-rich businesses, and only one of them lets you win without anyone losing money. Sportsbooks take the bet, prediction markets price the bet, and NFT platforms let you own a piece of the roster. Predictify, a week-old app out of Zagreb, is currently the clearest contender in the mostly empty fourth quadrant: rank fans on accuracy, and pay them in nothing but rank.
Capital has already picked winners in the other three quadrants, at a scale no solo founder can match. Kalshi closed a Series F in May 2026 at a $22 billion valuation, up from $11 billion five months earlier, while rival Polymarket secured a strategic investment from Intercontinental Exchange at an $8 billion pre-money valuation. NFT fantasy platform Sorare raised a $680 million round in 2021 at a $4.3 billion valuation. None of that money has gone toward a product that simply ranks fans on accuracy and settles the argument with a leaderboard.
Mapping Football Prediction by Stakes and Ranking Mechanics

DraftKings and FanDuel anchor pure wagering: legal U.S. sports betting posted record revenue in 2025, with $166.94 billion wagered and $16.96 billion kept by operators, but it is licensed state by state and closed entirely in holdouts like California and Texas. Kalshi and Polymarket occupy the same low-ranking, high-money territory through federally regulated event contracts instead of state-licensed bets, a structure that unlocked their valuations but has also drawn lawsuits from state regulators who call the contracts sports betting by another name. Sorare sits in the middle, its officially licensed player cards carrying real money exposure through the trading market even without a direct wager on a final score.
The top-left quadrant, no money changing hands but deep, global ranking mechanics, has exactly one large precedent, and it is not a football product. Chess.com ran a free, Elo-ranked ladder for two decades, mostly ad-supported, crossed a $1 billion valuation in 2023, and took fresh capital from CVC Capital Partners and General Atlantic this year, with its ad business described as undermonetized against 38 million monthly active users. Predictify is chasing that same square of the map for football specifically: 53 covered leagues, a weekly Arena mode with a chess-style Elo system moving players from Amateur to GOAT, and private leagues for friend groups, all shipped by one non-technical founder with no outside funding disclosed. No football-specific competitor currently runs that exact combination at global scale, which is what makes the top-left square defensible as a leadership claim even at this size.
The bottom-left quadrant is crowded but shallow. AI tipster apps like Forebet and MyPredictify generate probability calls without ranking users against each other at all, which caps their upside as social products even where their prediction accuracy is strong. One nearly identically named app, Predictify Football AI by UltraTech Apps, is an unrelated tips tool that will complicate brand search for the Zagreb product until one of the two names wins out. The bottom-right quadrant, real money with shallow ranking mechanics, is where most of daily fantasy sports still lives, competing on payout speed and contest variety rather than a persistent skill rating.
The global fantasy sports market, estimated at $42.37 billion in 2026, gives every quadrant room to grow, but the map itself is the argument for investors watching this space: three quadrants are already priced in the billions, and the fourth is still up for grabs. Kalshi, Polymarket and Sorare all had to prove trading volume or card sales to raise their rounds. Chess.com had to prove two decades of retention before a term sheet showed up. Predictify, category leader on the map or not, still has to prove the same thing on a much shorter clock, starting with whether the same 100 players in an Arena pool come back for the next one.
