Another season of Fortnite is about to wrap up with a major live event as Chapter 7, Season 2’s showdown-themed season reaches its epic conclusion. Season 3, titled Runners, picks up after the live-event and a few hours of scheduled downtime as Epic Games does its magic behind the scenes.
Below, find out when the Shattered live-event kicks off, how to join and what to expect, including free rewards. Also take a peak at what’s coming in Chapter 7, Season 3 which goes live Saturday, June 6.
The Shattered Live Event Start-Time In Your Time-Zone
There’s a countdown timer pointing to the approximate start-time for the Shattered live event and that points to 7 p.m. ET on Friday, June 5. However, two things you should be aware of: First, these do often start a little bit late but don’t count on it. Fortnite live events usually go for 15 minutes or so, which is basically blink-and-you’ll miss it.
Worse, these events often fill up. Servers get packed and you get stuck in a queue. That’s a surefire way to miss getting to participate. My recommendation is to login to the game at least 40 minutes ahead of time. This is when the “doors” open for the event officially. It’s never a bad idea to have a backup ready also, so pick one of your favorite Fortnite streamers and hop onto their stream.
Here are the start times in multiple time-zones across the globe:
- 4 p.m. PDT on Friday, June 5 (west coast of North America)
- 7 p.m. EDT on Friday, June 5 (east coast of North America)
- 8 p.m. BRT on Friday, June 5 (Brazil)
- 12 a.m. BST on Saturday, June 6 (U.K.)
- 1 a.m. CEST on Saturday, June 6 (western Europe)
- 8 a.m. JST on Saturday, June 6 (Japan)
- 9 a.m. AEST on Saturday, June 6 (east coast of Australia)
When you get into the game, head to the top row of the Discover tab and click on the Shattered tab. Again, at least 30 or 40 minutes ahead of time is recommended.

What Is The Shattered Live Event About?
Honestly, only a little has been teased and you have to be pretty caught up on the overarching Fortnite story with the Zero Point and the Dark Voyager and the Visitor and all that and we won’t really know until the event goes live, so stay tuned! What we do know is this is a major showdown and the closing of a pretty big arc between the powerful Ice King and the Rock’s character, the Foundation, leader of The Seven (not to be confused with Homelander, the leader of The Seven in the Boys).
Here’s the teaser:
This looks pretty epic! I’m definitely going to login and see what happens, even if I don’t play nearly as much Fortnite as I used to.
Participating in the event also earns you some free rewards. Players who attend the event will get the Chaos Cutlasses Pickaxe. If you attend the event with a friend you’ll also get the Bark Voyager Sidekick. Sorry, lonely solo people.

When Will Chapter 7, Season 3 Go Live?
There is no official release time for Season 3 just yet, but we should assume that the game will go dark after the Shattered live event (though sometimes there’s some kind of gameplay interlude before the game goes down) and then downtime to last anywhere between 4 and 10 hours. Probably somewhere in the middle. Most likely, Season 3 will go live in the early hours of Saturday, June 6 (likely around 4 a.m. ET). Big seasonal updates take awhile, but I’d be surprised if Season 3 wasn’t up and running by the time you woke up on Saturday morning.

The new season will include a new Battle Pass with the following skins:
- John Wick Pen & Ink Skin
- C3RB3RUS Skin
- Ninja Hope Skin
- Remixed Doctor Slone Skin
- Remixed PJ Skin
- Remixed Quackling Skin
- Mysterious Femme Fatale Skin
- Mecha-Sprite Skin
There will also be sidekicks including, reportedly, a Burnt Peanut sidekick, though the controversial streamer’s inclusion appears to be uncertain following player backlash. What would a new video game release be without a little controversy?
Sprites Return
Introduced in Chapter 6, Season 1, Sprites are tiny elemental creatures that stick to players, granting them various buffs. Season 3 will have Water, Fire, Earth and Zero Point Sprites as well as Skully and Ducky Sprites.
New Weapons and Items
Season 3 brings the Chaos Reloader Assault Rifle, a variant of the powerful Chaos Reloader Shotgun, too the pool. There’s also a new Triple Barrel Shotgun, which is such an obvious move I can’t believe it hasn’t been done before.
The Seven Power Boots are new traversal items that let players power slide and sprint at increased speed (though duration is limited) which could be quite fun or throw the meta into total chaos or both. These are often found in the new Seven Caches which should include other valuable loot as well.
Map Changes
Various map changes are coming to Season 3 including a tropical POI replacing Dark Dominion and a Duck Mansion POI with a Quackling NPC. Undoubtedly there will be many more.
Here’s the Season 3 trailer:
I will say, this game has really changed from the good old days. I mean, back in my day, a single rocket launch was all it took to get the community excited. The appearance of Dusty Divot pretty much ignited the entire gaming world on fire. You couldn’t slide or do any fancy movement stuff. The game was pure and simple and not particularly flashy, and I miss it and I miss the old challenges and the original map. I have officially become an “Old Man Shakes Fist At Clouds” Fortnite player. But I hope this season is good.
