Zendaya and Tom Holland’s new commercial for their movie Spider-Man: Brand New Day is going viral on social media after people were left low-key mesmerized by Zendaya’s expressive acting.

The ad is seemingly only shown before movie theater screenings, and starts with Tom sitting in the audience with a full bucket of popcorn. Zendaya walks over and takes the seat next to him, before very enthusiastically helping herself to some of his snack.

This past weekend, a fan shared a clip of the ad on their X account, where it has since racked up more than 10 million views, with many sharing playful responses to Zendaya’s dramatic performance — which one particularly viral tweet dubbed “millennial.”

For reference, at 29 years old, Zendaya is right on the cusp of Millennial and Gen Z.

A quote tweet of the video with more than 89,000 likes at the time of writing reads: “I love my girl but the millennial movements are killing me 😭😭😭”

“she chewing tf out that popcorn,” another with 23k likes observes, while somebody else referenced Zendaya’s Disney Channel roots as they quipped: “can't take the disney out of the girl.”

Others were quick to compare Zendaya’s popcorn eating to an infamous clip of basketball player Kelsey Plum, which regularly gets shared on social media.

In case you missed it, Kelsey was filmed watching a game from the stands back in 2024, and decided to pull a bunch of silly faces while eating her popcorn — only realizing after the fact that she was being “cooked” online for her antics.

For what it’s worth, Kelsey actually acknowledged the whole thing during an appearance on the Post Moves podcast earlier this year, where she joked: “I ruined it for white women after this.”

Explaining what was going through her mind at the time, she added: “The only reason this happened was because the camera guy kept coming back, and I'm like: 'What are you coming back for?’ So finally I was being sarcastic for, like, 10 seconds, and they cooked me.”

Quote-tweeting the clip of Zendaya, a popular tweet reads: “eating that popcorn like kelsey plum lmfao,” while somebody else joked: “kelsey plum realness.”
