How old Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele, other France stars will be in 2030 World Cup

France's World Cup dream has come to an end, as Kylian Mbappe's squad fell to Spain in the semifinals on Tuesday.

The French entered 2026 hoping to make a run to a third-straight World Cup final and continue their dominance on the world's biggest stage. Instead, Spain's defense held the prolific French offense down, eliminating the tournament's favorite in the last four.

Next, France looks forward to the 2030 World Cup, which will be played on multiple continents in Spain, Portugal, Morocco and Uruguay. By then, France will be 12 years removed from its last title in 2018, and while that's just three World Cups, it's long enough to feel the drought for a top team.

With that in mind, here's a look at how old France's players will be when they appear in the 2030 World Cup.

Ages of France players in 2030

France's team is currently in its prime, as the roster only includes six players aged 30 or older, but that will change in four years. France has another 10 players on the 2026 roster who will turn 30 by the time the 2030 World Cup is played.

Most notable is Mbappe, who will be 31 years old for the 2030 World Cup. Mbappe made his World Cup debut at just 19 in 2018 and has since been one of the best players in the world, and he should still be a key piece of France's attack in four years.

Some other key French players will be on the back end of their careers for the 2030 tournament. Ousmane Dembele is set to turn 30 next year, so he will be 33 for the next World Cup, while goalie Mike Maignan and midfielder Adrien Rabiot will both be 35 and could be off the roster entirely depending on how they age.

France does have a few younger players who will have more experience in the prime of their careers for the next World Cup. Desire Doue is the second-youngest player on the team this year and will be 25 next time, and Rayan Cherki is the third-youngest and will be 26. Bradley Barcola and Micahel Olise are two other key players who will still be on the right side of 30 for the 2030 tournament.

France should still be one of the best teams in the world during the next World Cup, but expect the team to find some younger options to complement the aging core.
