Jalen Hurts get support from ex-Eagles teammate over recent NFL rankings

With the NFL season getting closer by the day, the league has begun putting out its rankings for the top 100 players for the upcoming season. Given that the Philadelphia Eagles are in a rich vein of form over the last few seasons, lifting the Lombardi Trophy in the 2024-25 season, it wouldn't come as a surprise to see some of their players scattered throughout the top 100 list.

However, through the first 50 members of the list have been revealed, only one Eagle has found himself on the list: Jalen Hurts. The NFL has the Eagles' quarterback listed as the 56th-best player in the league, which comes on the heels of a season that saw Hurts throw for 3224 yards and 25 touchdowns.

A former Eagles defender backs up Hurts

While it wasn't Hurts' best season, it was still enough to help secure a spot in the playoffs for Philadelphia, with the then-reigning champions bowing out in the Wild Card game to the San Francisco 49ers, the 56th ranking could be perceived as a bit harsh by some. Among those in that camp sits ex-Eagles defender CJ Gardner-Johnson, who felt his former teammate should've been at the top of the list.

The two shared a lot of time together in the City of Brotherly Love, including the aforementioned 2024-25 season when the Eagles took down the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. That would be Gardner-Johnson's last snap in an Eagles jersey up until this point, as he would split time between the Houston Texans, Chicago Bears, and Buffalo Bills during the 2025-26 season.

For Hurts, the upcoming season will provide a chance to respond to his spot on the list, with the Eagles' opening match of the season coming on September 13, when they take on the Washington Commanders.
