Jaylen Brown calls out Brad Stevens, Celtics in first livestream since trade to 76ers

Jaylen Brown's time with the Boston Celtics came to an end on Wednesday.

Boston traded Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers for Paul George, two first-round picks, and two second-round picks. Brown will join forces with Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid in hopes of finally getting Philadelphia over the hump in the East.

Brown's exit from Boston was filled with drama and trade rumors, and though the All-NBA forward never requested a trade or showed any signs of wanting out, a fresh start with the 76ers could be what's best for both sides.

However, before officially closing the chapter on his Celtics' career, Brown had to get some things off his chest on how President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens and the franchise treated him during the trade saga this summer.

During a livestream on his Twitch account on Thursday, Brown called out Stevens and the Celtics for their lack of respect this offseason.

"I wasn't thrilled with the lack of respect shown during this process," Brown said about the Celtics. "I think there was a bit of a lack of respect. It was fine at one point, and then out of nowhere, things started to go left."

"Brad [Stevens] is probably getting a lot of the criticism. I wasn't thrilled with how he facilitated some of the conversations, but there is definitely more to it."

It's clear that Brown is bothered by the way Boston went about the trade rumors and discussions surrounding him over the last few weeks. We don't know, and will likely never know, what fully happened behind the scenes, but Brown isn't mincing any of his words when discussing how his time with the Celtics ended.

During his 10-year tenure in Boston, Brown was selected to five All-Star teams, two All-NBA teams, and won the Eastern Conference Finals MVP and NBA Finals MVP during the Celtics' championship run in the 2023-2024 season.

Brown and Jayson Tatum formed one of the best duos in recent history and defined an entire era of Celtics basketball. The pair is now going their separate ways after nine years together.

Though Brown's career in Boston didn't end on a positive note whatsoever, the 29-year-old is still one of the greatest Celtics of the 21st century, and he can strengthen his case for the Hall of Fame in his next stop with the 76ers.
