Jerry Jones has one George Pickens question he can't escape

The Dallas Cowboys have repeatedly stated they are not shopping George Pickens. Even so, new trade proposals continue linking the wide receiver to potential blockbuster deals, keeping attention on Dallas' long-running search for another elite pass rusher.

George Pickens trade proposal tests Jerry Jones’ priorities

Trade speculation resurfaced after former Cowboys executive Bryan Broaddus suggested Dallas should offer George Pickens and a first-round pick to the Las Vegas Raiders for Maxx Crosby. The proposal reflects the growing belief that the Cowboys still need another game-changing defensive player.

The idea remains hypothetical rather than an active negotiation. Jerry Jones has maintained throughout the offseason that Dallas plans to keep Pickens, although previous roster decisions have shown the organization can change direction when the right opportunity appears.

Dallas has reasons to consider adding another premier edge rusher. The Cowboys fielded one of the league's most productive offenses last season, but defensive inconsistency repeatedly undermined that production. Improving the pass rush remains one of the franchise's clearest offseason priorities.

Crosby would immediately address that need. The five-time Pro Bowler finished last season with 10 sacks, 28 tackles for loss and 20 quarterback hits before remaining under contract through the 2029 season after signing a three-year, $106.5 million extension in 2025.

The cost, however, would be substantial. Pickens produced career highs with 93 receptions, 1,429 receiving yards and nine touchdowns during his first season in Dallas, establishing himself alongside CeeDee Lamb as one of Dak Prescott's top targets.

Another proposal from Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox expanded the concept into a three-team trade involving the Raiders and Tennessee Titans. That scenario would also require Dallas to part with future draft capital while sending Pickens elsewhere.

For now, there is no indication the Raiders are actively pursuing such a deal. The recent discussion instead highlights the difficult balance Dallas faces between preserving one of the NFL's strongest passing attacks and upgrading a defense expected to carry greater responsibility this season.
