Kyle Bradish’s new contract changes everything for the Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles have secured one of the cornerstones of their pitching staff for the foreseeable future, announcing Saturday that they have agreed to a five-year contract extension with right-handed starter Kyle Bradish.

The deal represents another major step in Baltimore’s commitment to keeping its young core together as the franchise continues to build toward sustained postseason success.

Bradish, 29, has enjoyed an impressive comeback season after missing significant time following Tommy John surgery in 2024. In his first full campaign back, the right-hander has posted a 6-9 record with a solid 3.61 ERA across 19 starts, proving he remains one of the American League’s most dependable starters despite returning from a major elbow procedure.

The extension rewards Bradish for both his resilience and his consistent production since arriving in Baltimore. Over five major league seasons—all with the Orioles—he owns a career 3.50 ERA and has established himself as one of the club’s most reliable arms.

His breakout season came in 2023, when he emerged as one of baseball’s elite pitchers. Bradish recorded a stellar 2.83 ERA over 30 starts and finished fourth in American League Cy Young Award voting, helping lead the Orioles to one of their best seasons in recent franchise history.

Orioles owner David Rubenstein praised both Bradish’s commitment to the organization and the front office’s efforts to complete the extension.

“Keeping players of Kyle’s caliber in an Orioles uniform is an important part of our long-term vision,” Rubenstein said in a statement. “We are grateful to Kyle for his commitment to our organization and to Baltimore. Thanks to Mike Elias and the entire baseball operations department for their dedication throughout this process.”

The agreement continues Baltimore’s strategy of investing in homegrown talent rather than allowing key contributors to approach free agency. With Bradish now under contract for the next five seasons, the Orioles retain one of the league’s top starting pitchers to anchor their rotation as they pursue American League championships and World Series contention for years to come.
