Kylian Mbappe might have NBA aspirations — but his jump shot will surprise you

Kylian Mbappe is a bucket on the pitch.

Could he ever bring his goal-scoring prowess and turn that athleticism into basketball stardom in the NBA?

The odds, of course, are that it wouldn't work. But France's superstar has made clear in the past the kind of admiration he has for LeBron James.

He also went viral earlier this year for a video of him showing off some handles in the locker room before knocking down a jump shot.

And one surprise: He shoots his jumper lefty.

As the NBA shows in the tweet embedded within the video, Mbappe had interacted with a previous version of this video teasing a chance to join the NBA.

You know he's plugged in to how the league operates if he's asking for a 10-day contract, a nuance that a casual fan wouldn't necessarily know.

Mbappe has no need to leave his day job. He's a global superstar, shining for Real Madrid at club level and with France internationally.

He will likely end up the all-time goals record holder in World Cup play, sitting just behind Lionel Messi at the moment but presumably with more future action to come after Messi retires.

For now, Mbappe is trying to win the 2026 tournament after falling in the final in 2022.

France plays its quarterfinal against Morocco on Thursday and will hope to go beyond that, as well.

If they do, it'll likely because Mbappe kept getting buckets.
