The Los Angeles Lakers are in makeover mode after losing longtime franchise kingpin LeBron James to free agency. Now comes the uncomfortable part. Where do they go from here?

It's not just about a James replacement. One of the top priorities of this franchise in the draft a young player who could complement to Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.

The Los Angeles Lakers head into the offseason with some uncertainty after losing veteran star LeBron James in free agency. Now comes the uncomfortable part: figuring out what the next version of this team actually looks like.

One of the franchise’s biggest priorities was finding more than just a James replacement. The Lakers also needed to add a young piece who could grow alongside Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, giving the roster another layer for the years ahead.

That's where Cameron Carr comes in. The Baylor standout is expected to offer some on-court help to Doncic and Reaves in their time of need. Carr's job will be to fill rotational wing minutes and basically be a complementary wing with backcourt players.

He took a first step toward that role with the Lakers on Friday in the team's NBA Summer League matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Carr already impressed with a 26-point performance at the California Classic and looked like a seasoned player on the court. In Las Vegas at the Thomas & Mack Arena, he built on that momentum with some exciting dunks and high-scoring minutes.

Carr, the No. 24 overall pick in this year's draft, led the Lakers to a win over the Thunder, 96-84. He finished with 18 points, two rebounds and two blocks, according to NBA research. It was an impressive first night in Las Vegas and is a positive sign of things to come.

Ahead of his debut with the Lakers, Carr admitted that he was a bit nervous for it.

"If I said I wasn't nervous, I'd be lying," Carr said, according to Marcus D. Smith of USA Today. "I was probably nervous, excited. I just was ready, just for the first opportunity for the ball to go up in the air, and I just get to compete with these guys."

If he was nervous, he didn't show it. Carr is already looking like a seasoned player on the court, both on offense and defense.
