Lakers should be of interest with recent No. 10 pick amid Jonathan Kuminga rumors

All reports indicate that the Los Angeles Lakers are trying to add another young wing who can come in and make an impact for them on both sides of the basketball. The one player that continues to pop up in all of these talks is Jonathan Kuminga, the former Golden State Warriors wing who was traded to the Atlanta Hawks at the deadline.

As the Lakers approach the remainder of the offseason, especially if they don't add Kuminga, there should be other players for them to target, either on the trade market or as free agents.

Sports Illustrated recently floated the idea of pursuing Ziaire Williams, a wing with a lot of tools.

“The Brooklyn Nets recently declined Ziaire Williams’ $6.3 million team option for next season, making him a free agent. The same thing happened with Kuminga and the Hawks, but a much higher number ($24.3 million)...

“The Los Angeles native might be the Lakers’ first call if the Kuminga trade doesn’t come to fruition. He’s a player who could have a similar impact compared to Kuminga, with his athleticism, length, size, and defensive upside,” Ryan Ward wrote.

In Kuminga's fairness, he's probably a better player than a guy like Williams at this stage of his career, though there's some uncertainty about both players.

It's not like Kuminga has come into this league and averaged 25 points per game, and he wouldn't really be asked to do so in Los Angeles.

Williams is probably more of a connecting piece, which isn't a bad thing, but something the Lakers would have to figure out.
