The Seattle Mariners added some infield depth in a trade with the San Francisco Giants on Sunday night.

The deal, announced after both teams had concluded their action on Sunday, is bringing Buddy Kennedy to the Pacific Northwest.

The Mariners will send cash to the Giants to bring Kennedy aboard.

Kennedy is a 27-year old infielder with versatility. He has also already played with six MLB teams -- the Mariners will be his seventh if he gets into a game for Seattle.

He has already played in short stints for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Detroit Tigers, Philadelphia Phillies, Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Dodgers and the Giants.

He has a career .171 average at the MLB level in 189 plate appearances with five doubles, two triples, two home runs and 20 RBI.

Seattle might be looking at Kennedy's Triple-A numbers this season and seeing an opportunity to add someone who is in a bit of a groove.

With Triple-A Sacramento in 48 games in 2026, Kennedy has a .321 average with 15 doubles, one triple, eight home runs, 33 RBI, 27 walks and five steals. His OPS at that level this season is .967.

Kennedy is from Millville, New Jersey, and he played at the same high school that produced Mike Trout.

He was a fifth-round draft pick by the Diamondbacks in 2017.

The Mariners also note in their press release that Kennedy is the grandson of Don Money, who played 16 MLB seasons between the Phillies and Brewers.

Now, Kennedy is going to try to keep his journeyman career going in a new spot.
