Millie Bobby Brown got seriously real about how growing up without much money has impacted her now that she is rich and famous, with the 21-year-old star admitting that she still buys her clothes from Target and Amazon.

As I’m sure you know, Millie got her big break at 11 years old when she landed the role of Eleven in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things. In the years since, she has starred in movies, launched her own skincare and beauty line, and even started her own production company, with an estimated total net worth of $14 million.

In short, Millie probably doesn’t have to worry about paying her bills anytime soon. However, during her recent appearance on Call Her Daddy, Millie explained that she is incredibly conscious of her finances, and gets so anxious about dropping large amounts of cash that she will call her parents for guidance. The topic came up when host Alex Cooper asked Millie who is “more likely to splurge on a big purchase,” and she immediately replied: “My husband.”

“I’ll be like: ‘Oh, I need socks,’ and he’ll be like: ‘Let’s go to Prada!’” Millie added. “And I’m like: ‘Let’s go to Target, like, what?!’ He’s just that kind of guy. He loves to go shopping; he will refuse to pack a suitcase because he likes to go shopping in the place we are going, whereas I’m like: Amazon basics. I love that.”

Explaining why she believes she does find it so hard to splurge, Millie then shared: “I really like to be transparent: I grew up with no money. Did not grow up with any money — we never owned a house, so I have, like, a money thing, where I get… I’m just very conscious about money, and my parents say it’s important for me to keep that, it’s just good to know about money and not splurge.”

However, the star did reveal that she was pleased to be able to buy her parents their first house once she made it big, with the family always renting in the past — and regularly losing their security deposits. She recalled: “I remember buying a house with my parents and being able to do that because, for the first time, we were able to actually not be scared about renting and the landlords.”

Meanwhile, Millie and Jake own an impressive property in rural Georgia, with the couple owning a farm from which they also run an animal rescue organization. During a recent interview with BBC Radio 1, Millie revealed that they are currently taking care of a whopping 62 animals at home, with the star sharing: “I have 25 farm animals, and then I have 23 foster dogs, and then I have 10 dogs in my house that are my personal dogs, and four cats.”
