Nintendo Switch 2
Credit: NintendoThere are competing leaks and speculation about the price of Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2 console. The system has been revealed, but details are scarce. The two biggest details—price and release date—remain a mystery.
The original Switch came out in March of 2017 with a $299 price tag. Leaks and rumors suggest the Switch 2 could release in June of 2025. The price will likely fall somewhere between $399 and $499 USD.
IGN reported earlier this month that analysts believe the system will cost $400, but a new leak indicates that Nintendo may charge even more. Given all the new features, including a significantly larger screen, as well as inflationary pressures, this would not be surprising.
Twitter/X user @Shpeshal_Nick posted a possible price of $449/$499 for the Switch 2, writing: “So if the person who told me June release is all but confirmed to be correct, then that could mean the pricing they gave me of $449/$499USD might also be correct. Think the $50 extra is a Mario Kart Bundle.”
While @Shpeshal_Nick has been correct in the past, this is hardly a confirmed price. It’s entirely possible that Nintendo hasn’t even settled on a price yet. With possible Trump administration tariffs incoming, it’s entirely possible that the system—and all foreign-manufactured electronics—will cost even more.
We should know a great deal more on April 2nd when we get to watch the Switch 2 Nintendo Direct. Check out some of the cool new features and leaked features coming to Nintendo’s new system right here.
