“I would never have guessed.”
Meryl Streep perfectly portrayed the powerful magazine editor-in-chief in the 2006 film — to the point that she temporarily found herself embodying Miranda off-screen, too.

And while it’s been almost two decades since the fan-favorite film was released, a resurfaced interview clip has left internet users shocked this week as it revealed that Meryl’s on-screen hair was actually a wig.

Last year, Anne Hathaway — who played protagonist Andy Sachs — sat down with Vanity Fair to look back at some of her most renowned projects. And while reacting to a clip of Miranda in The Devil Wears Prada, she said, “Look at that wig! Oh my God,” while crediting stylist J. Roy Helland.

Anne’s quotes picked up steam online after being reshared in a Reddit group, with one person questioning, “That was a WIG???”

“I would never have guessed. Exceptional,” someone said, while another user added, “Holy cow.”
Some people suggested that Meryl’s wig was pretty “obvious,” with one person writing, “Y'all it was so obviously a wig. Not that it does look natural on her in the film, but Meryl's hair has never looked like that in her life.”

“It feels obvious now looking at the photo but it truly never crossed my mind before,” another person wrote.
