Prince Harry visits hospital as William plays crazy golf and Charles examines a penguin

The Duke of Sussex was mobbed by nurses at a children's hospital, as his brother William tried his hand at crazy golf and King Charles visited a zoo.

Prince Harry met staff, patients and their families on the tour of Birmingham Children's Hospital to celebrate 20 years of the charity WellChild's specialist nursing programme.

The charity helps seriously ill children and their families transition from the hospital to their homes.

His visit - for an event marking one year until the next Invictus Games in Birmingham - inspired excitement in the corridors of the hospital, with nurses and other staff encircling him.

Prince Harry, who was not accompanied by the Duchess of Sussex, hugged some female medics and posed for a group picture, while thanking the throng for their work.

Families asked for pictures with the Duke, who spoke of his son's love of toy building bricks with 12-year-old Alec Hill.

"Do you know who's obsessed with Lego? My son Archie - and he's a master builder," he said.

Prince Harry's visit to the UK has been marred by drama, after Buckingham Palace withdrew the offer for the Duke to stay, shortly after he had publicly accepted.

Speculation has continued to swirl around whether Meghan and their children would join the Duke in the UK to see their grandfather the King for the first time in four years.

It emerged on the weekend that the Duchess, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet would no longer be joining the Duke in London because of security concerns, following reports his request for taxpayer-funded police protection had been denied.

In a major blow, Prince Harry and other celebrity claimants lost their £50m privacy case against the publisher of the Daily Mail on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the King and Queen visited London Zoo to celebrated the 200th anniversary of the Zoological Society of London, despite the temperature rising to 34C in the capital.

King Charles and Queen Camilla used stethoscopes to help give a "very well-behaved" penguin a health check.

Crouching down, King Charles used a red stethoscope to check the heartbeat of a penguin named Lannister as the bird patiently sat perched on a rock.

He also interacted with some Partula tree snails, and painted one of their shells to help track them after their release.

The King and Queen also met a 31-year-old Galapagos tortoise named Polly.

The Prince of Wales also made a public appearance on Thursday, when he arrived in Hastings in East Sussex.

William tried his hand at crazy golf, and played three holes against Murray Thompson, one of the UK's top ranked crazy-golfers, and met local players David and Marian Harley, who took up the game in their retirement.

The Prince also spoke to local fishermen, a netmaker and the curator of a Hastings museum.
