Rams' Aaron Donald return idea has NFL insider excited

1 hour ago 1

Aaron Donald might have more football left in him.

The Los Angeles Rams sure are hoping that's true.

Donald is retired, but he's contemplating a comeback. From the moment the Rams traded for Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns, the rumors about Donald have persisted.

He's apparently back working out at the Rams' facility. He's trying to see if he can get his intensity high enough to make a return worthwhile.

On Friday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport added to the fire just a bit, mostly by stating the obvious.

"The Aaron Donald situation is really interesting," Rapoport said as a guest on the Pat McAfee Show. "... The Rams adding him back to their team would be incredible."

While it's obvious, it's also very true. Donald is one of the best interior defensive linemen in NFL history.

Rapoport had just said a day earlier that it's a "real possibility" that Donald returns to the Rams. The stars are certainly aligning in that direction.

Donald retired after the 2023 season, having recorded 8.0 sacks in his final campaign.

He finished his career at age 32 after 10 seasons with 111.0 sacks. Donald said at the time that he felt "there was nothing left for him to accomplish."

He apparently has changed his mind on that front. A Donald comeback is getting closer and closer to reality.
