The Boston Red Sox have continued their red hot streak through the All-Star break, now having won 13 games in a row, and 18 of their last 20.
With that in mind, it would be logical that the Red Sox be buyers at the deadline, but according to Boston’s GM Craig Breslow, the Sox are still weighing their options.

According to Breslow, it seems the Sox are waiting to make a decision until they are almost upon the deadline. If they win more often than not, they’ll be buyers, and if they don’t, they’ll be sellers.
"I don’t think I would look at this team and come to drastically different conclusions than anyone else who’s watching us…At times we’ve struggled to score runs. So, I think that’s a place where we’ll spend time. But until we know what teams are looking to do, and until we know what’s available, it’s really difficult to say like, 'Hey, this is what we’re going to do,'" Breslow said (via Chris Cotillo).

After sweeping the Tampa Bay Rays, the Sox still have six more games in their homestand, against two division rivals in the Baltimore Orioles, and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Then, they start a road trip against the Athletics for four games, and finish it against the Los Angeles Dodgers, with the trade deadline being after the final game of that series.
Los Angeles will be the hardest, for obvious reasons. Baltimore might test them as well, as they are on a six-game winning streak of their own. Otherwise, the Red Sox could and should tear through the rest of this gauntlet with ease, as long as they continue to vibe as they have been.
It’s clear what Breslow and the Sox should do

Now sitting at 50-48, firmly in the Wild Card race, and only six games back from first place in the AL East, it's quite obvious what they need to do: buy, buy, buy.
Boston needs a slugger, to keep up with their amazing pitching staff. Pairing up their prospective new guy with Willson Contreras, Wilyer Abreu, Caleb Durbin, and Ceddanne Rafaela in the heart of their order could take them from a good team, to a true World Series contender.
Hopefully, Breslow and the front office realize this, and get to work on Boston’s first blockbuster trade deadline in a long while.
