The Boston Red Sox set the baseball world on fire with their 15-game winning streak.
Suddenly, one of the worst teams in the Majors became postseason contenders in less than a month.
Now that the Red Sox are in the AL Wild Card race, they are very likely to keep Aroldis Chapman, Willson Contreras, and Sonny Gray in Boston.
But with the trade deadline looming, The Athletic's Jen McCaffrey wrote Friday that there is one Red Sox player who remains a change-of-scenery candidate.
Red Sox predicted to trade All-Star outfielder
"[Jarren] Duran has been having a down year, struggling to hit above .200, but still shows flashes of the impact player he was in 2024 and, at times, in 2025," McCaffrey wrote. "The Red Sox began the year with four outfielders in Duran, Roman Anthony, Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu, but Anthony has been out since May with a torn finger ligament."
Would the Red Sox benefit from moving on from Duran? Despite his decrease in production at the plate, there are likely a handful of clubs who would view him as a potential great addition to their outfield.

"The Red Sox don’t have an obvious replacement for Duran in the outfield, but they could use [Jahmai] Jones or Nate Eaton in left," McCaffrey added. "Including Duran in a package with prospects for a right-handed bat might strengthen any potential deal. A change of scenery might help him, too."
This is not a trade the Red Sox have to make.
But if the Red Sox expect Anthony to return at some time this season, then they'll have a roster crunch in the outfield.
