Report shows Nuggets have conflicting feelings on trade of $23M wing

There have been many conflicting reports about what the Denver Nuggets want to do with forward Cameron Johnson. Johnson, who typically is an elite 3-and-D wing, didn't have the best season in Denver in his first year.

The Nuggets were hopeful that he was going to take an almost All-Star-caliber jump, something he showed he was possibly doing with the Brooklyn Nets. Instead, it felt like he had a small role and was really only used as a three-point shooter and nothing much more.

However, there are still a lot of positives to Johnson as a player, mainly on the defensive side of the basketball and his ability to stretch the floor next to Nikola Jokic, arguably the best passer in the NBA.

While there have been some reports suggesting that the Nuggets are looking to move on from him, teams have actually called Denver, and as of right now, it is saying that it doesn't want to trade him.

“Numerous teams have called the Denver Nuggets hoping they’d be willing to dump forward Cam Johnson, who’s owed $23.06 million in the final year of his contract, but those inquiries have been rebuffed, league sources told HoopsHype,” Michael Scotto wrote.

I'm curious whether this means the Nuggets don't want to trade him or they haven't gotten the package they're looking for in return.

Those are far different things and could be what's going on in this situation. Regardless, Johnson is on the roster right now, and as I've said before, I think that's the right decision.
