The New Orleans Saints have some things to feel good about after the 2025 season.
Many expected the team to be among the worst in the league as they undergo a rebuild. However, new head coach Kellen Moore handled himself well, and rookie quarterback Tyler Shough looked promising. Shough seems to be the franchise quarterback, but the team should still sign him with as many weapons as possible.
Luckily, there's a reliable pass-catcher still on the market who would be a big help for Shough.
Saints should add Keenan Allen ahead of Week 1
Keenan Allen remains a free agent after spending the 2025 season with the Los Angeles Chargers. The veteran is now 34, but he was still productive in 2025.
Moe Moton of Bleacher Report recently identified eight moves that should happen before Week 1. One of those moves is for the Saints to sign Allen. Regarding that possibility, Moton offered the following:
Clearly, Moore knows how to feature Allen in his aerial attack. In a reunion, he could utilize the savvy veteran as the second or third option behind Chris Olave and rookie first-rounder Jordyn Tyson.
Remember, Tyson has an extensive injury history. Allen can be veteran insurance, an upgrade over Devaughn Vele in the slot and a reliable safety blanket for quarterback Tyler Shough.
Last season, Allen caught 81 passes for 777 yards and four touchdowns with the Chargers. He has finished with at least 66 catches and 744 receiving yards in nine consecutive campaigns.
As Moton mentioned, Allen would be a nice fit in the Saints' receiver room that isn't very deep. Chris Olave and rookie Jordyn Tyson both have injury histories, and there's not much depth behind them.
Plus, Allen has played for Moore before. The two were in Los Angeles together in 2023, and Allen caught 108 passes for 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns that year. That was also the last year that Allen made the Pro Bowl, so it's clear he's a good fit in that system.
Allen has earned six Pro Bowl bids in his illustrious career. Even last year, Allen still caught 81 passes for 777 yards and four scores. Production similar to that in 2026 would certainly be welcomed in New Orleans.
