Hi, everyone! We are Brian and Crystal, and not only are we massive Disney fans, but we're also die-hard Star Wars aficionados. In fact, the Force was strong with us when we had the opportunity to cover the grand opening of Galaxy's Edge. So when Disney invited us to preview this year's Season of the Force, we jumped at the chance faster than the Millennium Falcon on the Kessel Run!
Now, in case you don't know, Season of the Force is an annual several-week event that Disneyland holds in Tomorrowland and Galaxy's Edge to celebrate all things Star Wars and features temporary overlays, specialty foods and drinks, merch, and character meet-and-greets.
This year's event is being held from March 28 to May 11, 2025. Here's everything we checked out in the galaxy far, far away that we think you should try to do if you find yourself at Disneyland between those dates!
1. Hyperspace Mountain. Now, this is a fan-favorite overlay that Disneyland has been doing to its Space Mountain since 2015. The ride is transformed into an intense space battle, with projections of TIE Fighters, X-Wings, and Star Destroyers, accompanied by John Williams' iconic Star Wars score (some say it's even better than the regular Space Mountain, but we're not going to dip our toes into that debate). If you haven't ridden it, we think you won't be disappointed — especially if you're a fan of the original Star Wars trilogy.

2. A meet-and-greet with Luke Skywalker. One of the biggest complaints among Star Wars fans has been that Galaxy's Edge is locked into a very specific timeline — set between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker films — which limited character interactions to that era. But in recent years, Disney has slowly expanded the roster, introducing the Mandalorian and Grogu, Boba Fett, Ahsoka Tano, and now, at long last, Luke Skywalker himself!
While he's only appearing during Season of the Force, his arrival could signal that even more original trilogy icons might be making their way to Batuu in the future (fingers-crossed).
3. The Death Star Popcorn Bucket. Okay, we know this isn’t for everyone — but for those who love collecting popcorn buckets (as movie theater chains have figured out!), this one is a must-have. What sets it apart? The iconic superlasers light up in sequence, complete with sound effects straight from the Death Star itself. No exaggeration — leaving without one was the biggest regret of our visit.
4. Speaking of popcorn buckets, there's also a Tauntaun Bucket that's new this year, too, and, TBH, we were very impressed at how accurate this looked. Like, this could basically be an action figure?! Although, unlike the movie, this Tauntaun doesn't smell bad on the outside or inside (it smells like delicious popcorn!)
5. Another fun bit of food ~merch~ this year are the Skywalker and Darth Vader Lightsaber Swizzle Sticks. The Skywalker one is served with the Blue Raspberry Slushy, while the Darth Vader one is served with the Coca-Cola Slushy. Or, if you're not into slushies, you can get a swizzle stick with a soft drink or even on its own. And, in case you're wondering, YES these lightsaber swizzle sticks ~ignite~ and turn off just as the real things do. Impressive...most impressive.
