Sophie Cunningham, Max Holloway recreate viral pointing moments after UFC 329

Sophie Cunningham found another way to become one of the biggest talking points from UFC 329. After making a surprise cameo as a guest ring girl during Saturday night’s event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the Indiana Fever guard joined Max Holloway inside the Octagon following the main event and recreated the viral finger-pointing pose that has become closely associated with both athletes.

The unexpected crossover brought together two of the most recognizable pointing moments in recent sports memory and immediately produced a photo built for social media.

Holloway defeated Conor McGregor in the UFC 329 main event, although the result came under unfortunate circumstances. McGregor suffered an apparent right knee injury shortly after attempting a leaping kick, bringing the highly anticipated fight to an early conclusion. While Holloway did not get the kind of victory he had prepared for, he still took time to celebrate with Cunningham afterward.

The two came face-to-face inside the Octagon before pointing at each other and laughing for the cameras.

For Cunningham, the pose was a callback to the moment that helped make her one of the WNBA’s biggest viral personalities. During a game against the Phoenix Mercury, Cunningham memorably pointed at DeWanna Bonner following a heated sequence. The image quickly became a popular reaction meme and spread far beyond the WNBA audience.

Holloway has his own history with the gesture. At UFC 300, the former featherweight champion pointed toward the center of the Octagon before inviting Justin Gaethje to trade punches with him in the final seconds. Holloway then delivered one of the most dramatic knockouts in UFC history.

Putting both athletes together for a pointing photo created a natural collision between two viral sports moments.

Cunningham’s UFC appearance keeps getting bigger

The postfight photo was only part of Cunningham’s eventful night. Earlier on the UFC 329 card, she surprised the crowd by joining the UFC’s ring-card team ahead of the co-main event between Paddy Pimblett and Benoit Saint Denis.

Cunningham walked barefoot around the Octagon while wearing a black tank top and black shorts, smiling as she held the round card above her head. UFC president Dana White later revealed that the appearance came together only minutes before it happened.

According to White, Cunningham told him she wanted to participate, and he quickly approved the request.

The spontaneous cameo generated immediate attention, but her photo with Holloway gave fans another memorable image before the night ended

Cunningham quickly shifts back to the Fever

Cunningham will not have much time to enjoy her viral UFC moment. The Fever are scheduled to face A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday night in a nationally televised WNBA matchup at Michelob ULTRA Arena.

That means Cunningham will go from holding a ring card at T-Mobile Arena to competing against one of the league’s top championship contenders less than 24 hours later. Whether she is battling opponents on the court, making surprise appearances alongside UFC stars or creating another meme-ready moment, Cunningham continues to expand her profile beyond basketball.

Her pointing pose with Holloway was the crossover fans did not know they needed, and it gave UFC 329 one more viral moment from an already unpredictable night.
