Sun's Saniya Rivers regrets nothing about Caitlin Clark confrontation

Saniya Rivers' confrontation with Caitlin Clark on Wednesday was a matter of pride -- and it didn't matter what the score was.

In the final minute of the third quarter, Rivers allegedly told Clark that she was "locking (her) up." Clark responded by yelling "scoreboard" -- the score was 95-67 in favor of the Fever -- and both players were given technical fouls over the spat.

Indiana went on to beat Rivers and the Connecticut Sun, 123-88. Clark finished the game with 27 points and 11 assists. But the stats didn't matter to Rivers, a second-year guard out of North Carolina State.

Rivers said postgame that she didn't care if the Sun were down by 50. She claimed that Clark was disrespectful, and that needed to be called out.

"I'm NEVER tolerating disrespect," Rivers posted on Threads. "As long as there's time left on the clock, I'ma keep hoopin. Period."

The 2026 season has been a struggle for the rebuilding Sun, who are set to move to Texas next year as the second iteration of the Houston Comets. Connecticut has the second-worst record in the WNBA at 7-20, and Wednesday marked the Sun's ninth loss by double-digits this season.

Even still, Rivers isn't going to give in. A technical foul for a little trash talk toward Clark certainly won't change her approach.
