Syracuse's Kiyan Anthony adds key element to his game from dad Carmelo

Kiyan Anthony is preparing for his second college basketball season with the Syracuse Orange.

In the process, he appears to be considering an addition to his game that would be a subtle shoutout to his legendary father, Carmelo.

In a new video from SU practice, Kiyan is rocking a headband:

'Melo made the headband his signature look for a long time.

As a Syracuse freshman, though, Kiyan rocked with his natural hair grown out a bit, and no headband.

This could just be summer vibes for Kiyan, or it could be a new hooping plan going forward.

It would be big for Syracuse if Kiyan takes a step forward. 

As a freshman, he averaged 8.0 points per game, but he shot just 39.9% from the floor, 25.4% from 3-point range and 62.8% from the foul line.

Kiyan generally showed a solid ability to create his own shot, but he didn't show much consistency in actually making those shots once he made them happen.

The Orange will be led by new head coach Gerry McNamara, who was teammates as a freshman on the national championship team with Carmelo.

It's gotta be a wild full-circle moment for him to be coaching Kiyan, but maybe that long-lasting connection will give Carmelo's son the best chance of succeeding as a Syracuse sophomore. That, and the headband.
