Telemundo
It's not all World Cup on Telemundo. The network is kicking off its July entertainment primetime schedule with a three-show premiere night, pairing the U.S. debut of music competition Operación Triunfo Estados Unidos with the tenth and final season of El Señor de los Cielos and historical Turkish miniseries El Turco, all on Tuesday, July 7.
The network is calling the event "Julio Histórico" (Historic July), with Operación Triunfo Estados Unidos opening at 7pm/6c, El Señor de los Cielos Season 10 following at 9pm/8c, and El Turco closing out the night at 10pm/9c.
The multi-premiere strategy has worked well for Telemundo. Last February, the network paired reality juggernaut La Casa de los Famosos with the debut of action thriller Lobo: Morir Matando, capitalizing on franchise momentum.
Last year, the simultaneous launch of La Isla: Desafío Extremo and Dinastía Casillas propelled Telemundo to the top spot in Spanish-language primetime among adults 18 to 49, outperforming Univision by 24%.
A Global Music Format Format Arrives in the U.S.
Operación Triunfo Estados Unidos brings one of the most successful music competition formats in Spanish-language television history to U.S. audiences for the first time, 25 years after the original launched in Spain.
Hosted by Natalia Téllez, the show follows 20 contestants from from a nationwide audition process, representing the United States, Puerto Rico and several Latin American countries. They will live together inside la academia (the academy) while receiving intensive training in singing, acting, dance and performance, with their progress playing out in weekly live galas.
The judging panel features David Bisbal, Ana Bárbara and Ximena Sariñana, who will also mentor contestants throughout the competition. Award-winning singer-songwriter Erika Ender is the Academy director, who oversees artistic development alongside acting instructor Laura Flores and musical directors Jorge Romano and David Cabrera.
At the end of the run, the winner takes home a $100,000 cash prize, a recording deal with Universal Music Latino, and artistic development and international exposure opportunities through partner GTS.
Viewers can follow along beyond the broadcast. The show's official YouTube channel, @OperaciónTriunfoEstadosUnidos, will stream live 24/7 from inside the academy, and eliminated contestants will appear on Realities After Dark: Operación Triunfo EEUU Podcast, hosted by Eliane Gallero.
Operación Triunfo Estados Unidos is supervised by Adrián Santucho, Senior Vice President of Non-Scripted Content, with Luciano Cardinali and Fernando Lorente serving as executive producers.
An International Hit Reaches U.S. Screens
El Turco premieres at 10pm/9c, bringing international sensation Can Yaman to Telemundo audiences in the series' U.S. Spanish-language debut.
The five-episode historical miniseries has already secured distribution in more than 20 territories across Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia.
Yaman stars as Hasan Balaban, a warrior betrayed by his own blood who finds refuge in a small village and becomes a protector to its people. There, he meets Gloria (Greta Ferro), a woman fighting to defend her community, and an intense bond develops between them. Standing in their way is Marco (Will Kemp), a powerful and ruthless commander who also happens to be Balaban's brother, the two men now on a collision course shaped by old wounds and irreconcilable choices.
The series blends action, romance and historical drama across its five-episode run.
Rafael Amaya will end his run as Aurelio Casillas, as "El Señor de los Cielos" comes to an end with season 10.

The End of an Era for El Señor de los Cielos
The beginning of the end of Telemundo’s longest-running Super Series is here. Sandwiched between the two debuts, El Señor de los Cielos (The Lord of the Skies) is back for its tenth and final season, more than a decade after Aurelio Casillas first appeared on screen in 2013.
Rafael Amaya reprises his role as Casillas. This time, he also steps into an executive producer role for the milestone run. Casillas resurfaces after disappearing from his inner circle, determined to reclaim his empire and settle scores with both old enemies and new ones, even as the DEA closes in and the loyalties around him begin to fracture.
The Emmy Award-winning series built one of the most dedicated audiences in Spanish-language television history. Its final season promises to bring that story to a close on its own terms.
All three shows will be available the following day on Peacock. Operación Triunfo Estados Unidos episodes can also be streamed through the Telemundo app.
